I own 3 of theese.

Tested one Pepper Blaster and it was very easy to hit the target.
I got some of the OC spray on my skin and it caused a burn that lasted about 24 hours.
This product is 10% OC 2.4% Major Capsaicinoids (Bear Spray is 2.0% OC) with 399,000 at the nozzle heat derived from raw food grade [peppers] OC with 4 Million Scoville heat units.

I hope I never have to use this but if I do I know the Pepper Blaster will work.

First, the products:

Number one dog repellent spray on the market is Mace "Muzzle":

Dog chaser, dazzler, ultrasonic whistle
We also recommend carrying the ulrasonic dog repelling whistle.
The ultrasonic whistle comes handy before the attack happens.
If you feel that dogs might be sizing you up, the ultrasonic blast from the whistle (humans do not hear it, dogs -- do) might "change the dog's mind". It has a disorienting effect on dogs, so it might give you time to leave the danger zone.

When an attack is imminent, the whistle is not a solution anymore and it's time for pepper spray.
Aim toward the eyes and the nose.
The pain from pepper spray is significant and it might deter even a large dog. However, the force of determination of the attacking dog might block the pain, so the attack might still happened.

Some, like Mace Gun or Dragon Fire instantly develop very high pressure in the chamber and make a long forceful stream of the pepper solution toward the target. There are others that shoot paint balls or darts filled with pepper spray. This is all wonderful but how should we call all these devices? What do they do?How should we call their actions: do they shoot? do they blast? do they jet? do they launch?
Even the manufacturers do not really care calling them anything in particular.

I am college educated and worked for The American Red Cross until my broken leg.
I gathered the courage to move myself and children to another city, and the problems ended.
HOWEVER- we had to start over in an apartment with a neighbor who has harassed me constantly in a sexual manner, and I am afraid again.

I wonder if I were a NYC lawmaker's DAUGHTER or SISTER, would they finally protect me and others that are dealing with this?

We have a good news for you:
the electricity from stun guns cannot be passed by touching the person being hit, or by the person grabbing your arm or, even, by standing in a puddle with them.
Here is why: the electric current produced by stun guns travels from one electrode of the stun gun to another. The electrodes are close to each other, spread less than an inch apart.

So when you touch someone with the stun gun you touch them with both electrodes. The power will travel very short distance through the assailant's body but with incapacitating effects on the whole muscle and nervous systems. The power does not "stray" away from the path between the two electrodes.

A. YES, pepper spray IS indeed legal in the state of NY.
Since Mace is just a brand of pepper sprays, Mace is legal in NY as well.

Some visitors insist in asking the same question in the negative:

For them the answer is:
A. Pepper sprays are not illegal in the state of New York, Mace spray is not illegal in NY either.

Q. What are the pepper spray (or Mace) laws in the state of NY?
A. The law we are aware of regulates only the purchase and sale of self-defense sprays in the state of New York. In brief, the law requires that sale of defensive sprays within NY state is performed by special authorized dealers only; such dealers should perform the background check on buyers; sales to felons are prohibited etc. For complete details see the legal definition here.

Q. Where can I buy pepper spray in New York, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Rochester, Albany, NY (the list goes on...)?
A. We do not have a list of authorized dealers in NY state but we have a couple of tips for you:
- You might want to try calling hunting supplies stores, sports and outdoors, and, surprise-surprise: local neighborhood pharmacies. A licensed pharmacist could be an authorized dealer.
- Don't call big chain pharmacies, call your small friendly drugstore on the corner.

Q. Why don't you ship defensive sprays to New York, NY?
A. You are correct: DefendingWomen (or any other company) may not ship defensive sprays to a NY state address because this would violate the law mentioned above. Such orders of Pepper sprays to a New York state address will be stopped and will not be shipped, no exceptions.

Safety tips for women's defense

We wish you all to read it and never have the need to use any of them.
However, we also wish you to recall them if all of a sudden your life starts resembling one of these situations:1.Robbery
If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse,
Do not hand it to him - instead TOSS IT AWAY FROM YOURSELF!
Chances are that he is more interested in your wallet/purse than in you, and he will go for the wallet/purse.
RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

2. Kidnapping
If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, KICK OUT THE TAIL LIGHTS from inside the trunk.
You can do it in most cars.
Then STICK YOUR ARM OUT THE HOLE AND START WAVING like crazy.
The driver won't see you, but everybody else will.
This tip has saved lives.

3. Kidnapping
Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. -- Wrong!!!)
The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go.
AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE RIGHT AWAY!

4. Kidnapping
If someone is in the car with a gun to your head DO NOT DRIVE OFF,
repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF!
Instead gun the engine and speed into anything.
WRECK THE CAR, YOUR AIRBAG WILL SAVE YOU!
If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it .
As soon as the car crashes bail out and run.
It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.

5. Be Alert, Watch Out for these signs
A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
- Be aware: look around you, look into your car at the passenger side floor and in the back seat
- If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
- Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out.
IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. Be Alert
Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot, especially at night.
ALWAYS TAKE THE ELEVATOR INSTEAD OF THE STAIRS!

7. Attack, Kidnapping
If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN!
The predator's shot will likely miss you (a running target) 96 out of 100 times;
And even if hit, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ.
RUN, RUN, RUN!
Preferably in a zig -zag pattern!

8. Attack, Fight
The elbow is the strongest point on your body.
IF YOU ARE CLOSE ENOUGH TO HIT WITH YOUR ELBOW -- DO IT!

9. Be Alert, Watch out for these signs
As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP !
It may get you raped or killed.
Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women.
He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

As another illustration, here is the safety point mentioned on America's Most Wanted this past Saturday when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana:
A woman heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird.
The police told her "Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door."
The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window,
and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over.
The policeman said, "We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door."
He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax
women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby.
He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night.
