"You are not here merely to make a living. You are here to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, and with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world. You impoverish yourself if you forget this errand".
Woodrow Wilson (1856 - 1924)
When we allow our minds to wander beyond our 9-5 status quo, when we entertain thoughts that others cannot understand, when we become a visionary in our own right, we have the power to create a change. Becoming a visionary in the public eye is not an easy task as fear of failure dominates our world. Skepticism and defensive spirits sometimes hinder the creative process..

What is the value of a vision, a conception, a notion? What does it mean to look beyond your current state of affairs, and imagine an elevated reality, an alternative solution?
"For visions come not to polluted eyes."

"Every creator painfully experiences the chasm between his inner vision and its ultimate expression".
Isaac Bashevis Singer (1904 - 1991)
In the willPower workout, instructors from across the US and in Puerto Rico share a philosophy with their students. For 7 years, my vision as the program founder has to move beyond traditional fitness, to create a spark of enlightenment, courage, passion in our students based on a philosophy; inner focus mediation combined with physical exercise.
Teaching our students to be strong from the inside is the key concept. willPower: as the ability to create change with the power of one's mind. ("What if you HAD to?") Grace: as the ability to control momentum with seemingly effortless charm.
As the willpower movement grows, I smile knowing that this vision was intelligent foresight. We are blessed because this vision is beginning to change our world.
Not to long ago, a student in San Francisco, approached me. "Jane" said: I want you to know that this method of training has affected me profoundly, and may have saved my life. She went on to tell her story; she was recently attacked while walking alone at night. The man screamed at her "I have a gun, and if you don't do everything I tell you to, I'm going to shoot you!" Holding her at gunpoint, he forcefully pulled her to the ground and struggled to pull her clothes off.
Jane explained "All of this willPower training I've been doing reminded me that I have the strength to fight him! I wasn't going to do what he told me! I screamed and fought, and broke free. A year ago I wouldn't have had the inner strength to protect myself".
"Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognize it as such."
Henry Miller (1891 - 1980)
My initial empathetic response was overwhelming fierce admiration of Jane's strength "A badge of courage! You made it!". Of course, in the wake of a traumatic event, her senses are not aligned with that of a courageous warrior woman at this point. Jane is now working through fear, anger, and soul-searching. The courage and power, however, is still in her heart, and will re-emerge as her healing process develops. As Jane sorts through her challenges over the next few weeks, she will blossom into a new woman, capable of more than ever before. She will arise from the darkness, shining brilliantly with new energy and grace.
"Before you begin a thing, remind yourself that difficulties and delays quite impossible to foresee are up ahead. If you could see them clearly, naturally you could do a great deal to get rid of them... but you can't. You can only see one thing clearly and that is your goal. Form a mental vision of that and cling to it."
Kathleen Norris
I urge you, reader, to have clear vision of the person you want to be! Olympian heroes would not be without belief in their own passion, physical strength, and mental focus.
"We lift ourselves by our thought, we climb upon our vision of ourselves. If you want to enlarge your life, you must first enlarge your thought of it and of yourself. Hold the ideal of yourself as you long to be, always, everywhere - your ideal of what you long to attain - the ideal of health, efficiency, success."
Orison Swett Marden (1850 - 1924)
"We go where our vision is."
Joseph Murphy
