11/20: Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Pepper Spray and Mace.

In general, US Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations prohibit passengers and crewmembers from carrying hazardous materials (dangerous goods) aboard commercial aircraft. However, ONE CAN of Pepper spray or Mace spray is ALLOWED in checked-in baggage only if it is under 4oz.

The official document prepared by the FAA Office of Security and Hazardous Materials (http://www.faa.gov) states that:

"One self-defense spray (see § 171.8 of this subchapter), not exceeding 118 mL (4 fluid ounces) by volume, that incorporates a positive means to prevent accidental discharge may be carried in checked baggage only."

Buy pepper spray or buy mace because they all have safety features to prevent accidental discharge.
